I grew up in the small town of Morgan, Minnesota and like almost everybody else that is from the Northern States - I am totally intrigued by Palm Trees.

In 1999 I saw that the Spring Hill Nursery catalog had Musa Basjoo Banana Trees listed in their catalog, and although not advertised as hardy in Minnesota, I was fascinated by the fact that you could grow them so far north. I said to myself that I was going to do that one day.

In 2003 I started watching a reality TV show about two recording artists that were recently married. Their home in Southern California had two Queen Palm Trees in the front yard - I thought it looked so cool - that was the day that I actually acted on my desire to have a Palm Tree in my yard. I spent the next year searching online and I was reading a lot about cold hardy Windmill Palms. After trying it in 2004 and failing, I realized that it was not going to be as easy as I had expected. The next year I continued to experiment with Windmill Palms, but I also bought two Majesty Palms and two Cat Palms. After the third year of trying Windmill Palms I gave up and just started only using houseplants.

The information presented on this site is the result of much time and energy spent experimenting and investigating. It is my sincere desire to pass on what I have learned from my many trials and errors. I am still learning and I will continue to post the results of my endeavors and observations.
