If you want to plant a tropical landscape you will need to install some sort of irrigation system. I personally use "Rain Bird" products sold at Menards, Home Depot sells "Toro" and Lowe’s sells "Mister Landscaper". We live in a area that gets 26 inches of rain a year; tropical plants come from places that may get more than 100 inches of rain a year. Cannas and calla lilies are two plants that can grow on the amount of rain we get. Palms will slowly turn yellow and die without enough water.
