I first planted these in partial shade 2005 and they grew to about 6 feet tall. Unfortunately that was my only successful year. The first year I planted them in partial shade, the years of 2006, 2007 and 2008 I planted them on the south side of the house with no luck. In 2009 I tried planting them on the north side of the house with poor results again. I have pretty much given up on these.
