Native to Southeastern Asia, this palm grows along rivers in its native habitat.
This plant is a true tropical palm, but is able to tolerate cool temperatures very
well. The leaves will turn a bronze color when exposed to temperatures under 40°
F - windy conditions will increase the damage. Many authors will say that this palm
is drought resistant, which is true, but lack of moisture will make this palm turn
ugly really fast. The one good thing about this palm is damage is not really visible
once the plant receives adequate moisture after an extended dry period. I have found
this plant to be one of the easiest plants to keep indoors.
