
A zone 4 evergreen, the rhododendron has striking leathery dark green glossy foliage.
In the spring it develops a profusion of flowers, but unfortunately the rest of the
year you will only have the foliage to enjoy. These plants require acidic soil, the
way to achieve this is to dig a hole 2 feet wide and 2 feet deep, then back fill
with 1/2 of the soil that was removed and 1/2 peat moss. Future applications of sulfur
may be necessary to keep the soil acidic. This plant is totally new to me -
